Typically when altering the appearance of the front of your property, ie Driveways,Pathways etc you will need planning permission if surface is over 5m>. But this does NOT apply if the surface is a fully permeable surface. ​

Utilising a Type3 Mot as a sub base is not only great for strength, but with the aggregates natural angular shapes, The stones interlock when compacted, while still allowing voids for fast percolation of any water that has just drained through the highly permeable vuba resin bound system*

Usually in the past it seems to of been a crushed concrete /type1 subbase laid under a variety of surfaces, with a lot of fine material. which is not good for any form of permeability. The water takes a long time to pass through, if at all because of all the fine compacted material filling all the voids. Which in turn can cause failure in the sub base as it begins to percolate and move the fines around which in turn can cause swelling and dipping of surface layers.
