Terms & Conditions

Surrey Resin Surfacing
Terms, Warranty & Care Conditions
(Resin Bound Surfacing)
⸻
1. Status of This Document
These Terms, Warranty & Care Conditions form part of the contract between Surrey Resin Surfacing (“the Contractor”) and the Client.
By accepting a quotation or allowing works to commence, the Client agrees to be bound by these terms.
Failure to follow the care, usage, and maintenance guidance set out in this document may invalidate any warranty or liability.
⸻
2. Warranty
Surrey Resin Surfacing provides a 12-month workmanship warranty from the date of installation.
This warranty covers defects arising solely from poor workmanship.
The warranty does not cover:
• Natural characteristics of aggregates
• Material defects supplied by manufacturers
• Issues arising from misuse, lack of maintenance, or external factors
• Any exclusions listed in Section 10
⸻
3. Curing Period & Handover Responsibility
Resin Bound surfacing requires a curing period which is temperature and weather dependent.
Typical curing times:
• No foot traffic: 24–48 hours
• No vehicle traffic: 48–72 hours
Exact timings will be confirmed by the installer at handover.
Once the surface has been handed over, responsibility for protecting it during curing passes to the Client.
Any damage caused during the curing period by foot traffic, vehicles, animals, weather exposure, leaks, or third parties is not covered.
⸻
4. Static Wheel Turning & Vehicle Use
Static wheel turning, slow manoeuvring, or tight turning circles can exert high pressure on Resin Bound surfaces and may dislodge aggregates.
Damage caused by:
• Static or near-static wheel turning
• Small turning circles
• Repeated manoeuvring in the same area
is considered misuse and is not covered under warranty.
Driveway design should eliminate tight turning circles wherever possible.
⸻
5. Impact Damage & High Point Loads
Care must be taken to avoid high point loads or impact damage, including:
• Skips or heavy equipment
• Car jacks (unless placed on load-spreading boards)
• Dropped tools or machinery
Rust leaching from skips, metal items, or equipment may permanently stain the surface and is not removable in all cases.
Damage caused by impact, excessive loads, or skips is not covered.
⸻
6. Water, Leaks & Moisture
Leaks or continuous dripping onto Resin Bound surfacing can weaken, erode, and discolour the surface over time.
The Client must ensure:
• No leaks or drips occur during curing
• Gutters, pipes, taps, and vehicles do not discharge onto the surface
Damage caused by water ingress or prolonged moisture exposure is excluded from warranty.
⸻
7. Chemicals, Oils & Staining
Petrol, solvents, oils, and harsh chemicals can degrade the resin binder.
• Spillages must be diluted and cleaned immediately
• Prolonged contact with chemicals may cause stone loosening or staining
Damage caused by chemical exposure or inappropriate cleaning products is not covered.
⸻
8. Discolouration, Leaching & Surface Marking
Like all paving surfaces, Resin Bound surfacing may discolour if covered long-term by close-contact objects due to leaching and lack of airflow or sunlight.
Examples include:
• Flat-bottom plant pots
• Storage boxes
• Mats or furniture left permanently in place
Use raised items where possible.
Discolouration caused by covering is not a defect.
⸻
9. Natural Aggregates & Rust Spotting
Resin Bound surfaces use natural quarried aggregates.
Despite processing, trace minerals such as iron or pyrite may be present.
This can result in rust spotting, appearing as small orange/brown marks on the surface.
This is a known and rare natural characteristic of stone and does not constitute a defect.
Rust staining may also occur from external sources such as:
• BBQs
• Metal furniture
• Hanging baskets
Non-acidic rust removers may be used in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
⸻
10. Cleaning & Maintenance
Regular cleaning is recommended, particularly for lighter colours.
• Power washing is permitted
• The lance must be held at an angle and at least 300mm from the surface
• Excessive pressure or close contact may dislodge aggregates
Any cleaning methods, products, or third-party services used by the Client are undertaken at the Client’s own risk.
Failure to maintain the surface may invalidate the warranty.
⸻
11. Rejuvenation & Sealing
To extend the life of the surface, a polyurethane UV resin sealer may be applied after a deep clean.
• Recommended timeframe: 2–4 years after installation
• This service is not included unless specified in writing
⸻
12. Exclusions & Limitations
The following are not covered under warranty:
• Cracking due to substrate movement or settlement
• Defects in the underlying base or sub-base
• Normal wear, weathering, or colour variation
• Damage caused by misuse, abuse, vandalism, or third parties
• Extreme weather conditions (including frost, heat, prolonged rainfall)
• Failure to follow care and maintenance guidance
⸻
13. Limitation of Liability
Surrey Resin Surfacing’s liability is limited to the value of the original contract.
No liability is accepted for indirect or consequential losses.
⸻
14. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
15. Binder Course – Vuba MAC
Where specified, Surrey Resin Surfacing may install Vuba MAC as the binder course beneath the Resin Bound surface.
Vuba MAC is a specialist resin-based binder course designed for Resin Bound applications and offers enhanced flexibility when compared to traditional asphalt.
• Vuba MAC has been independently tested and is reported by the manufacturer to have up to 57% higher flexural strength than standard asphalt, allowing improved resistance to cracking under movement.
• When installed strictly in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications, Vuba MAC is supplied with a manufacturer-backed 5-year crack-free guarantee.
Important Clarifications
• The 5-year crack-free guarantee is provided by the manufacturer (Vuba) and not Surrey Resin Surfacing.
• This guarantee is subject to:
• Correct installation
• Suitable ground conditions
• Appropriate sub-base design
• Normal domestic vehicle use
• Cracking caused by substrate movement, ground instability, tree roots, drainage issues, excessive loads, misuse, or external factors remains excluded.
Surrey Resin Surfacing’s workmanship warranty remains as stated in Section 2 and is separate from any manufacturer guarantees.
